Hey, over there in Germany 👋

Have you met our man on the inside? If not, it’s about time we introduce you to...Daniel Ansorge, PlanStudio Support and volunteer fire fighter.

Daniel is Locatrix’s boots on the ground. Ready and able to support PlanStudio users, just like you, in Germany.

So, there’s no greater time than now to introduce you to the man himself and for you to connect with him here.

Q: What’s your background and what brought you to Fire Safety?

A: At the age of 6, I attended the local children's fire department, from which I later joined the youth fire department. At the same time as joining the volunteer fire department, I decided to study Rescue Engineering at Cologne University of Applied Sciences out of an interest in fire and disaster control.

Q: When did you first become aware of PlanStudio and can you tell us about your experience of learning to use it?

A:  As part of my university course, I spent six months as an intern at the Queensland Fire Department in Australia. The fire department is closely linked to Locatrix and that's how I became aware of PlanStudio. I was amazed at how easy it was to draw evacuation plans.

Q: Why is PlanStudio the best option to draft floor plans?

A: In my opinion, the added value of PlanStudio includes the following:

  • User-friendliness
  • Automation

Anyone using PlanStudio draws a building plan and the intelligent software generates all escape and rescue plans, fire department plans and fire protection plans. The building plans can also be drawn on the tablet on site as well as in the office and can be exchanged between the end devices. Using PlanStudio saves a huge amount of time.

Q: What are the similarities between legislation in Australia and Germany?

A: There are a few, especially in the area fire protection. For example, the marking of escape routes is regulated similarly, as can be seen from the similar signs in the buildings. The structure and content of the evacuation plans are also very similar and, on the whole, only differ in terms of design and language.

Q: How do you feel about being sharing our drafting software with the fire industry in Germany?

A: In Germany, the drawing of evacuation plans, as well as fire department and fire protection plans, has so far mainly been carried out using very rudimentary software. The time required is high, so that many fire protection offices lose interest in this activity. PlanStudio can change this.

Q: What is the best way for someone to organise a demo of PlanStudio with you?

A: PlanStudio is available as a free demo for the first month and can be obtained from me or via the website. On request, I can conduct 1-to-1 training sessions and am available for questions and problems. You can reach me on daniel.ansorge@locatrix.com.

Enough of the business talk, let’s get to know more about Daniel beneath the fire safety guy persona:

Q: What makes you nostalgic?

A: “Vesper” (a special snack) with my grandparents in my home region of Hohenlohe Germany.

Q: If you had a clone, what would you have your clone do?

A: I think he would do the same.

Q: What’s something you never leave home without?

A: The key and, at home, the fire department pager.

Q: The best place you have ever visited in the world?

A: There are many! I particularly like the Glass House Mountains National Park, which I visited during my time with the Australian Fire Service.
