We're excited to offer all users free early access to the new AI powered Trace Tool in PlanStudio, available on all devices, including iPads, and in offline mode.
The Trace Tool can be used to scan and automatically draw in all the walls from any type of graphic uploaded into PlanStudio.
The tool supports a wide range of floor plan graphics, including photos of existing evacuation signs, detailed CAD plans, and even hand-drawn sketches. It can also handle multiple stitched-together graphics, so you can import several sheets of a larger plan, arrange them, and let the AI trace everything in one seamless floor plan.
The Trace AI tool can detect annotations created with the Pen Tool in PlanStudio. These annotations can be used to hide or mask objects you want the AI to ignore, or to draw additional lines for the AI to recognize and trace.
Sensitivity Slider: Adjust the sensitivity of the AI to different lines and objects. Depending on the type of plan you're working with, you can experiment with different sensitivity settings to achieve optimal results.
Cleanup Options: A dropdown menu that controls how PlanStudio tidies up automated walls. It allows you to fine-tune the wall generation by how aggressively walls will be joined and straightened.
Reduce your time spent drawing walls by 50-80%.
Create plans 30% faster.
Powered by local, on-device AI models, your floor plans are saved securely with Locatrix.
How to Access Trace with AI

New Grid Lines Feature
The previous grid layer has been replaced with a new, more versatile grid component.
You can now easily add multiple grids to a plan using the "Pink + Button".
Once you select a grid from the browser panel, you can customise the grid spacing and rotation in the inspector panel, then drag the grid on the plan to adjust its position.
A new "snap to grid" option has been added to the snapping panel.
Grids can now be styled and customised in the theme library editor.
We’ve improved the vertical layout mode for the icon legend in the template editor.
You can now specify the number of icon columns to use in the vertical legend mode within the diagram template editor. Previously, this was adjusted automatically based on the legend's needs, but now you have full control to set the number of columns.
A new option has been added to set the minimum icon height for legend items in the diagram template editor. When configured to shrink, icons will stop shrinking once they reach the specified minimum height.
Improved the vertical layout mode.
Changed Campus Creation
We have streamlined the campus creation process to make it easier and more intuitive, significantly reducing the steps and time required to set up a new job in PlanStudio.
The "+ Button" in the plan manager has been replaced with more intuitive text buttons for creating new clients, campuses, buildings, and floors.
When creating a new campus, you will now be automatically prompted to set up your site plan. Once completed, PlanStudio will send you into a new floor plan with the site plan layer shown.
We’ve added a dialog box for quick and easy editing of campus, building, and floor details immediately after creating a new campus.
Updates to the Plans Panel
We’ve made several quality-of-life improvements to the plans panel, making it more versatile and efficient, saving you time when creating new plans in an existing campus, and reducing the need to leave the plan editor.
The plans panel now includes controls for adding new buildings and floor plans directly from the plan editor.
From the plans panel you can now easily edit the names of campuses, buildings, and floors, as well as update addresses for campuses and buildings. We've also added the ability to delete buildings and floors.
Additional updates have been made to make it easier for users to see the current building they are working in, know which plans are the primary plan and which are visible as an underlay, and some visual updates to make the panel overall more intuitive and consistent with other parts of PlanStudio.
Add buildings and floors directly from the plans panel in the plan editor.
Other Features
To complement the AI Trace Tool, a manipulation sub-mode has been added to the Wall Tool that allows wall nodes to be dragged and adjusted more easily.
Building footprints on the site plan now support multiple detached interior zones.
Improved German language support.
Security improvements.
The diagram publisher and draft publisher roles are now granted the same permissions as the Partner User role on top of the existing publishing permissions.
Added an option to disable Hardware accelerated AI in the preferences menu. For devices that have non-compatible Hardware, this will allow the Ai to run via software only. This will reduce performance, and should only be disabled if you have experienced an error message or issues getting the Trace with Ai tool to run on your device.
