Congratulations to Julianne Leslie, GIS Coordinator, Enterprise Information Management, Technology Command NSW Police & Chad Ajamain, Spatial Manager NSW Government who were nominated for the Peter Woodgate Award announced at the Locate24 – National Geospatial Conference, Excellence Awards Dinner on 8 May 2024.

This Award is a special joint award between AURIN and the Geospatial Council of Australia honouring the late Peter Woodgate, as a way of remembering his substantial achievements in both the geospatial and space sectors.

Recognising both Julianne and Chad as an exceptional team who have contributed to the improvements of the geospatial industry.  Together their efforts to add currency, fidelity and accuracy to the maps delivered to the Emergency Service response will provide better situational awareness to first responders and improved outcomes for public safety.

In their joint recognition of challenges faced by emergency response teams in gaining access to reliable floor plans, Julianne and Chad led NSW Police and NSW Spatial Service in a partnership with Locatrix Pty Ltd, integrating current Emergency Evacuation floor plans into police databases for improved operational command response.

With improved access to over 105,000,000 sqm of spatially accurate floor plans of Australian Commercial buildings, this number is predicted to grow to over 1b over the next 3-5 years and maintained for currency.  Arming First Responders with high fidelity indoor floor plans and critical building information to assist in events like the Lindt Café Siege, Quakers Hill Nursing home Fire or Westfield Bondi Junction – instantly available to assist with operational response.

With Julianne’s specialised knowledge which was imperative to the assembly of stakeholders and ensuring alignment of requirements for successful data integration and Chad’s coordination of the IP Agreement ensuring the clear use of data for NSW Government purposes, we commend their combined efforts which have delivered a successful opportunity to reality.

Congratulations to both Julianne Leslie and Chad Ajamain for their brilliant work and continued progress.
