The Toadstool project groups several Locatrix GMLC/GMPC access initiatives to improve the ability of network operators to efficiently provide location-enhanced mobile experiences to a large number of subscribers.  These initiatives include a location-polling and proxy system, a traffic-shaping facility, and cross-operator location connect services.

The Toadstool location-polling and proxy system allows application services to request location look-ups much faster than GMPC capacity would normally allow.  Applications can use Toadstool to determine when a subscriber moves, facilitating notification-based location events, such as geofencing, proximity alerts, real-time location tracking, and “push” mobile marketing services.

The Toadstool traffic-shaping initiative provides the ability to manage the distribution of MLP requests over time to ensure optimum utilisation of GMPC capacity and licensing restrictions.

Finally, the Toadstool cross-operator initiative provides locatable subscribers on one network to be viewable in another operator’s Locatrix/XLF-powered applications, such as Uandme. This facility has tremendous implications for the uptake of consumer location services in competitive mobile environments, and in conjunction with our business case consulting services, comes with ready-to-use commercial models that benefit all participating operators.
