Chime is a Twitter SMS gateway application service that helps mobile operators add value to their subscriber’s usage of the increasingly popular Twitter service.

Chime lets mobile subscribers send and receive Tweets with the convenience of a local SMS shortcode, at substantially lower rates than regular SMS. Leveraging the Locatrix/XLF billing/subscription engine, Chime subscribers can elect to receive Tweets on the go (direct messages, @replies, or regular Tweets from those they selectively choose) using a special subscription plan from their mobile network operator. Subscribers benefit from the convenience and fixed cost to access the SMS gateway for Twitter, and network operators can fairly monetise their subscribers addiction to Tweeting!
