Benefon announces location application development partnership

BENEFON OYJ BULLETIN August 31, 2006 at 9:00

Wireless and GPS technology company Benefon, today announced it has extended its contract with
Australian based Locatrix Communications to further develop additional services and solutions
based around Benefon’s core navigation and location based services.

Under the agreement, Benefon’s forthcoming range of TWIG integrated GPS navigation and
mobile phone devices will use the jointly developed advanced web-based tracking and location
technology, in both consumer and commercial applications. The partnership further enhances
Benefon’s competitiveness in the location based services market, while also signalling the arrival of
new services such as TWIG Alert and TWIG Friend Finder.

“In all their various forms, location-enhanced services are all about improving the productivity,
safety and communication for mobile device users and their friends.” said Mark White Locatrix
Communications Chief Executive Officer, “Our web services interface allows device owners,
friends and family to track and locate TWIG users via any web browser, providing them with peace
of mind as to their location and current status”.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances a user can program the TWIG device to communicate
with the web services application to issue send alert notifications via SMS and E-mail to
predefined contacts, notifying their exact longitude/latitude location and position on a map. These
contacts can then provide assistance, with the precise knowledge of where the TWIG user is.
Commenting on the news, Benefon CEO Jonathan Bate said, “Our decision to outsource the
location application development for our new TWIG range demonstrates our continued
commitment to providing our partners and end-user customers alike, with leading location and
presence GPS enabled technology, products and services. This is yet another example of our
commitment to lead the personal navigation market.”
